Declan Rice is fast becoming one of West Ham United’s most important players.
The versatile star is only 19 years old, but his performances in defensive midfield of late have warranted him a starting spot.
In fact, manager Manuel Pellegrini has named the teenager in his first XI in the club’s last four Premier League matches.
In that time, the Hammers earned wins over Everton and Manchester United, and also held Chelsea to a goalless draw.
Last Friday, though, the club hit a stumbling block as they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
In the background, there have been rumblings over Rice’s contract situation, and it has been widely reported that the midfielder’s camp rejected an initial offer.

According to Claret & Hugh, West Ham have upped the stakes by tabling a basic wage of £21,000 per week and a handful of bonuses.
The report states that if Rice agrees to these new terms, he will receive £20,000 for every Premier League start and £10,000 if he makes an appearance off the bench, or £5,000 if he remains as a substitute.
In addition, the club have offered him a £5,000 raise on his salary if he is named in Pellegrini’s team 15 times in a row.
However, the offer is reportedly only on the table for a short while and if Rice fails to agree now, talks will not be resumed until the end of the season.
Club insider ExWHUemployee confirmed the story on Twitter, and his opinion sparked a debate among the fans.
