Leeds United have been handed a major blow ahead of their huge clash with Birmingham City this weekend after Garry Monk was handed a touchline ban, the BBC have confirmed.
Monk will have to watch his side from the stands after being handed a one-match ban and a £3000 fine following an altercation with Huddersfield Town counterpart David Wagner in the clash on February 5th.
Leeds, sat fourth in the table, will travel to St Andrew’s on Friday evening to clash with Birmingham City and can move one-point behind third-placed Huddersfield and six points behind the automatic promotion spots with a victory.
Wagner has been handed a two-game suspension for his involvement in the altercation, with the German boss set to miss the FA Cup replay with Manchester City on Wednesday and the huge clash with second-placed Newcastle United.
Both clubs have also been fined £10,000 and it could play a major part in the play-off race, with both sides facing a huge challenge this weekend as they seek to earn promotion to the Premier League.
