According to L’Equipe, Newcastle United have joined West Ham United in the hunt to sign Torino centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou in this summer’s transfer window.
The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Torino before joining the Italian outfit on a permanent deal earlier this summer.
There is believed to be a lot of interest surrounding the central defender, which is not a surprise when considering his performances last season.
A 72-time Cameroon international, N’Koulou started his professional career with Monaco, and made 78 league appearances for the principality outfit before joining Marseille – where he featured on more than 200 occasions.

The defender has a fine pedigree in the game, and it would be some signing if Newcastle managed to pull it off.
However, the English club’s supporters are already doubting a move for the 6ft ace due to the finances that would be involved.
