The 27-year-old has been credited with interest from United, Villa, Marseille, and more, after a stellar couple of seasons for Palace. Although the Frenchman's contract runs until 2027, the Eagles want to secure the forward's long-term future. And after helping them win the FA Cup and being their top scorer for the past two years, this move is understandable.

Mateta initially struggled to impress at Palace during a loan stint between 2021-22 and even after leaving Mainz 05, the 6ft 4in attacker was quite goal-shy for the Croydon outfit. But in the last two campaigns, he has scored 19 and 17 goals, respectively, and that has caught the attention of United and more.
